But what is Horchata?

Horchata is a traditional Spanish beverage with a long history. It is a refreshing cool drink made from tiger nuts, blended with sugar, and sometimes flavoured with cinnamon and lemon.

Horchata has a light, creamy flavour and contains no cream.

Licor 43 Horchata is a fusion of Licor 43 Original and traditional horchata from Valencia, resulting in delicately sweet Mediterranean flavours layered with tiger nuts, spices and citrus.

But isn’t it nut free? Correct. The tiger nut is actually a tuber. Despite its name, the tiger nut is the root of the Cyperus Esculentus plant. Harvested twice a year, the tiger nut is pulled out of the ground, washed and dried for up to three months, using natural ventilation and the sun. When dry the tubers look like a “nut” and have a sweet nutty flavour.

Today, the tiger nut is considered a “super food” with multiple beneficial properties.

So what makes it vegan?

Licor 43 Horchata contains no ingredients of animal origin and no products of animal origin are used throughout the whole production process.
