Sunday Brunch: Bloody Maria Time!
Have you ever tried Tomato Water?
It is a very light, clear, crisp and tangy alternative to tomato juice. And it makes for a Ridiculously delicious Bloody!
I used:
60mls Reposado Tequila
250mL Tomato Water*
30mL Lime Juice
5 dashes of @tabasco (Chipotle)
5 dashes of Worcestershire Sauce
Good pinch of @oldbay_seasoning
Celery salt and pepper to taste
Place all ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake with ice until combined. Double Strain into your favourite cocktail glass and serve with a vine tomato.
It is worth noting here that tomato water is clear – the colour of this deliciousness was changed by the seasoning – this is why it appears to look like tomato juice.
To make the tomato water you will need (recipe adapted from @maggie_beer )
1kg Very Ripe Tomatoes
1/3 Cup Verjuice
Muslin
2 teaspoons salt flakes
Pepper
6 sprigs fresh thyme
How To:
Roughly cut the tomatoes into large dice.Place the tomatoes, salt, Verjuice into a food processor and whiz on high speed until combined. Around 30 seconds.
Line a large sieve with muslin place over a 1 litre bowl or jug. Pour the tomato mixture into the sieve, bring the ends up and tie them with string.
Hang until you have approximately ½ litre of tomato water
