‘I love a sunburnt country,
A land of sweeping plains,
Of ragged mountain ranges,
Of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons,
I love her jewel-sea,
Her beauty and her terror –
The wide brown land for me!’
This is a Poem by Dorothea Mackellar
It’s Australia Day 2020
Australia is being ravaged by the most devastating bushfire season and Australia is still burning.
33 lives have been lost and 2700 homes have been destroyed. More than 10.7 million hectares of Australian land has been burned.
Our wildlife has also suffered…. It’s been estimated that around 1.25 billion animals have been killed across Australia to date including thousands of koalas and other iconic species such as kangaroos, wallabies, kookaburras and cockatoos (thx @wwf_australia for this info)
If you would like to make a donation to those affected families and/or to support the wellbeing of the volunteer fire fighters in Victoria, you can click here
